the history
Aldric and Delilah first became acquainted during the '94-'95 Triwizard Tournament. At first they had only seen each other in passing, and a fateful study session in the library late in October started their rather whirlwind romance. They attended the Yule Ball together, and were nearly inseparable the whole year, and even though Delilah was a firm Hogwarts supporter and Aldric constantly rooted for Beauxbatons, they maintained their relationship.
When it came time for Aldric to return to France, Delilah was heartbroken, she was sure she's never see her little French lover boy again, and their meetings were scarce, but the letters they sent each other were frequent and were almost on a daily basis. Upon Delilah's graduation from Hogwarts their reunion was a blessing, and couldn't have come at a better time. With all the talk of Voldemort's return, Aldric was quick to propose. Delilah was reluctant however, she didn't want to rush into marriage just because death was potentially around every corner, so they decided be sure they could have a stable home and country before they settled down. For about a year they maintained their engagement, all the while Aldric kept in contact with his old friend Fleur Delacour. Of course, by then she was known as Fleur Weasley, and he was present during the Battle of Hogwarts, much to Delilah's distress. Once again she felt certain she would never see him again, but when injured and dead started rolling through the doors of St. Mungo's she didn't see him among the severely injured. She actually didn't see him at all until the wee hours of the morning when he came into the hospital with a sheepish look on his face and nothing but broken wrist, acquired from a tumble down a flight of steps.
Months after the fall of Voldemort, things were calm again, and on a chill September morning the couple shared their first kiss as Aldric and Delilah Renard.
They found themselves settling in a house on the River Mersey in Cheshire, spacious and perfect for a bigger family, and soon the family indeed grew.
First to be born was Matthias, and what a difficult child he proved himself to be. The moment he came into the world he was fighting and screaming, and he didn't stop until he was old enough to comprehend the fact that screaming and raising a fuss for no reason was a one way ticket to a spanking. Six years after Matthias came to be, Delilah was pregnant again. This time with twin girls. Aldric was of course excited, but he was hoping they would be nothing like baby Matt as the boy had come to be known.
It was a dreary day when Jeanne was born, and the weather outside was fit for the occasion. While Jeanne had been born with little difficulty, her sister was another story. Jeanne's umbilical cord was wrapped around her twin's neck twice, and she died before even leaving the womb. Delilah was devastated, and Aldric didn't know how to console his wife as she sit there holding her cold little girl while the other was being cleaned and cared for. So, the two quietly decided to stick to their guns, and name their twins Jeanne and Lucia.
Lucia was the first Renard to be buried in England, given her own little headstone on the plot Aldric bought for the family. Delilah was heavily depressed for months, and it soon became taboo to speak of Lucia in the family home. The mere mention of her lost child would send Delilah into tears and she would be inconsolable for days, so much of the care for Jeanne and Matt fell upon Aldric at this time.
A little over a year later they were expecting their last child, Dante, by total accident. It was hard for the mother to try to bring another child into the world, but once Dante was born safe and healthy it was as if all the regret and shame she felt for losing Lucia had been lifted from her shoulders. Aldric was happy to have his wife back to normal, and Matt was just glad mommy stopped crying all the time.
Raising the young Renards was a task that required energy and patience. Matt, surprisingly enough, fell easily into the big brother role and could be seen doting on his sister and brother, even now in adulthood.
Dante wasn't spoiled as most think the youngest is. If anything things were tougher on him than his two older siblings, especially with his sensitive personality. He was the child that, if he saw a spider in the house, instead of screaming for daddy to kill it, he would shakily request that it be caught and then released outside, or when a dog wouldn't stop barking he would be the child trying to reason with the creature to quiet down rather than yelling at it to simply shut up.
He was a great cause of concern for his family, since he'd shown no signs of any magical abilities the first five years of his life. Matthias and Jeanne, there had been no questioning those two. They had been displaying abilities since infancy, but as years went by the Renards became more and more anxious. Aldric had been somewhat heartbroken to think his son may be a squib, because even though it wouldn't change his love for his youngest, it would be difficult for such a sensitive child to be raised in a magical home knowing he would never truly be part of the wizarding world.
Lo and behold though a few days shy of his sixth birthday he found himself gasping for breath on the front porch of his parent's home just as his mother was walking out the door to call him in for supper. A few of the older boys had thought it funny to push little Dante into the lake, not knowing he had just begun his swimming lessons and could barely keep himself afloat. He hadn't known how he'd been almost drowning under a dock a quarter-mile away one moment and laying at his mother's feet the next, but as he sputtered and coughed and emptied his lungs of the lake water he'd managed to inhale he knew he was safe. So he did what any sensible child would do after a near death experience like that.
He cried.
It took convincing for the children who pushed him to believe he'd simply swam under the dock to the other side, crawled out of the water and ran home, them being the logical Muggles that they were. Thankfully the boys parents believed Delilah when she'd told them all what their sons had done and they hadn't questioned any of the little loopholes in the story. With their wizarding secrets safe and their son as magical as anyone else in the family they could relax for a while and not worry about much of anything, except when Dante broke his arm two years later while playing a spirited game of 'let's see how high we can chase Dante up this tree until he starts crying' with his older brother and sister. Then when he was 9 the poor boy broke his collarbone in a fall down a flight of steps. Accidents like these continued throughout his childhood, earning him the nickname 'Danger Prone Dante' from his family and neighbors.
When his Hogwarts letter arrived in the early afternoon of his 11th birthday, he didn't react with the pride and sense of accomplishment Matt had, or the overflowing excitement Jeanne had displayed the year before. He simply smiled, the cut on his lip from playing with Specter reopening a little, earning him another fussing session from his mother.
The day he left for Hogwarts was a day of stress and fretting. Dante had taken one of him infamous falls down the stairs that very morning, and the Renard family barely made it to King's Cross before the train left. The stares the family got while running through the station, yelling and bustling with carts and suitcases, it was nothing short of comical. Upon crossing the magical barrier into Platform 9 ¾ Dante ran smack into an older student's luggage cart which immediately ended in him having a bloody nose and a black eye. Delilah had no time to apply any bruise removal paste or anything, but what she could manage was to cram a tampon up his nose and toss a package of tissues to Jeanne as the two children scrambled onto the train.
Unfortunately this set Dante up for a long and boring train ride with his older sister and her group of catty friends. Fortunately he was able to sleep and read most of the way, and before he knew it he was seated at the Ravenclaw table and eating dinner.
That first year at Hogwarts taught him a lot about himself. He learned that no matter how clumsy or ditzy he was on the ground, when he mounted a broom he could perform the most complex maneuvers with ease. It was then he knew, he wanted to try for the Quidditch team, but only when he was older, it was common knowledge that lower level students barely ever made the teams. He also discovered he had a passion for potions. Even though sometimes he would drop a vial of ingredients or bump his cauldron, his potions never blew up in his face. So the class quickly became one of his favorites.
His first few years at Hogwarts were nothing to really dwell on, and life didn't pick up for him until his third year. His third year he signed on for Arithmancy classes, and he found it a subject he was strong with, and his first try for the Quidditch team he made it as Chaser. From that year on he kept his position on the team, and made a good friend of his teammate and captain, Desmond Krum.
He looked up to the slightly older boy, and by the beginning of his sixth year he was comfortable calling Desmond the older brother he was supposed to have, though it all came to an awkward halt when Desmond started dating Jeanne. At this point Dante became conflicted, he was torn between encouraging his friend and protecting his sister. So the Chaser did the only thing he thought would work, he just ignored Desmond.
Looking back he realized it was a bad move, especially when his sister broke things off abruptly just before summer break, but what mattered was, no grudges were held. Thankfully there was an understanding.
It was also the end of his fifth year he decided, he wanted to study Arithmancy. Now taking every available class on the subject he's fully prepared himself for a life of numbers, which is perfectly fine, numbers don't lie.
the appearance
Like his sister he received most of his looks from his mother's side of the family with his dark hair eyes, though he received his fathers fair skin and ability to tan after a burn.
His build is that of lean muscle, not to say he's the strongest boy around but he isn't a total bean-pole. He works out enough to keep himself trim and in shape for Quidditch, which he loves.
If one looks closely enough at him they can notice that he has a small scar on the left side of his jaw near his chin from some childhood accident. Granted there have been so many of them he couldn't tell you which incident it came from. At any given point in time you can find at least two bruises on Dante, whether it be from something as silly as bashing his hip on the corner of his bedpost or tripping and cracking his head against a table.
His sense of style is a sort of dressed up casual, and very rarely will you find him in just a tank and a pair of sweatpants, unless he's on his deathbed, sick. He can often be found wearing suit jackets with a nice pair of jeans or a vest and button down with a pair of khakis, tie optional of course. He has a dirty secret in that he has a passion for shoes and has six pair with him at school, though if anyone asks about it he'll be nonchalant and shrug with a simple,
“Yeah, they're my shoes.”
the personality
Dante is a guy who's easy to get along with, so long as you don't mind him being shy and quiet. He's sensitive to a point where he won't kill a spider and he'll avoid hurting someone's feelings as long as it's reasonable.
He has a sense of chivalry about him in the fact that he treats all women with respect and won't talk down to any of them, no matter their past or current actions. He won't go so far as to add 'miss' before every lady's name, but he will never refer to a woman as anything derogatory. (It's the French gentleman coming out in him)He's a closet romantic and all he wants out of life is to find a girl and sweep her off her feet, if he weren't too damn shy to make a move. He's also a bit protective of Jeanne, but in a way that she won't notice it. He's also a quiet intellect, though sometimes when he speaks he can give an air of superiority and arrogance, when brought to his attention he claims it's all unintentional.
He's quite disorganized in several aspects of his life, especially in the material area. After he leaves for Hogwarts his mother cleans and arranges his room thoroughly, and when he comes back it takes only two days to get it back into what he calls 'proper order' which consists of stacks of parchment everywhere and books tossed about haphazardly.
He is naturally curious about how things work, and he supposes this quest to simply figure things out is what landed him in Ravenclaw. He couldn't help but notice the way his parents beamed at him when he came home from his first year. When he was eleven he didn't know what was so special but now that he's older he realizes that they're glad he was in Ravenclaw and not Slytherin like his sister, no matter how non-judgmental they are, they were glad he didn't break the mold. He often buys toy models just for the satisfaction of digging around and disassembling things to see what makes them tick. You can find him in his room over the summer taking apart old broken Muggle devices his grandmother let him have to tinker with, and to his surprise sometimes he ends up fixing them, though by sheer luck and by chance.
Dante also has an appreciation for the arts like the majority of his family and likes to paint in his spare time, though less and less frequently as he gets older. He was also the only one of Aldric's children to show a serious interest in learning to speak French and learning about French culture. Matthias and Jeanne can speak phrases and words but Dante could integrate himself into the French wizarding society and no one would know he came from another part of the world.
All in all, Dante is a sensitive sweetheart with a heart of gold and a mean protective streak for women. Also, if he's sleeping, tread lightly for there lies a wolf in sheep's clothing.

People being obnoxiously loud. If you want to tell somebody across the room to meet you after class, simply get up, walk over to them and tell them. Don't scream it across so everyone else can hear.
Burping at the dinner table. Seriously? You just opened your mouth and let that out when other people are trying to enjoy a good meal? If you absolutely can't hold it in, keep your mouth closed and hold a napkin to your lips for good measure.
Men mistreating women. Whether it simply talking down to them or something more physical, it's unacceptable in Dante's eyes. Not that he thinks women are weak and can't care for themselves, but because some women are a hell of a lot tougher than a lot of men out there and deserve respect.
Being woken up. He can't stand it if you wake him up before he's ready. Dante is prone to be more forgiving about it if you wake him up gently with a hand to the shoulder and a simple request for him to get out of bed, but the minute you dump water on him or jump on him you might find yourself thrown to the floor and Dante reburied under his blankets like nothing happened.

Boggart: Someone calling to him for help and finding himself unable to do anything. There is no past experience to justify this fear, but always in the back of his mind he feels he needs to watch out for people, even if he doesn't owe them anything. If someone he hated was on the brink of disaster and needed his help, he'd be there, so his most deep-rooted fear is not being able to save someone, which is especially true for Jeanne or any other girl.
